At the Point of Learning: Maine's 1:1 laptop program

An interactive conversation with Jeff Mao about Maine's 1:1 program including ideas ranging from how provide academic freedom without giving out the root password to maintaining 70,000 laptops in over 300 schools. Keith Kruger will facilitate the conversation, and audience participation will be encouraged.
Jeff Mao is the Learning Technology Policy Director for the State of Maine, Department of Education. He provides vision and oversight to Maine’s education technology programs, including the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI).

Jeff has made presentations at numerous conferences throughout the United States as well as in Korea, China and Australia. He has testified in support of education technology to the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and has published articles in the One-to-One Institute Newsletter, T.H.E. Journal, and online for MacWorld.com. Jeff is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the State Educational Technology Directors’ Association.

Jeff began his career in the classroom at the Brewster Academy where he helped develop its pioneering 1:1 program in 1993.
