Do you know a technology
administrator new to the role who would like
a mentor? Are you interested in Professional
Development that is uniquely targeted to your
needs? Would you like to be a member of a national
organization advocating for technology
administrators at every level of government? Then
join us now, become as active as you can in the
work of the organization and take advantage of all
of the resources CoSN has to offer.
CoSN member benefits include a range of tools
and resources for you and your team,
including:
- e-Newsletters that provide timely and
relevant information on key issues impacting
K-12 school networking. Members receive the
Member Bulletin (which includes information
about a wide range of ed tech topics),
Washington Update (focused on policy
information), and Member Alerts (irregular
bulletins about critical, time-sensitive issues
in ed tech).
- Face-to-face networking opportunities with
your peers and the corporate sector at the
annual K-12 School Networking Conference.
Members receive discounts on registration and
hotel rates.
- Representation of your interests in
Washington. With the launch of the Ed Tech
Action Network (ETAN), CoSN has provided you
with direct access to the policy-makers whose
decisions affect your daily work. Your
membership supports all our policy and advocacy
work on behalf of the education technology
community.
- Leadership development information that
enables you to stay current on the key education
technology issues you face. CoSN's various
leadership initiatives - Accessible Technologies
for All Students; Cyber Security for the Digital
District; Taking Total Cost of Ownership to the
Classroom; and Data Driven-Decision Making:
Vision to Know and Do - provide you with the
tools you need to succeed in your district.
- Electronic access to the CoSN Compendium.
The Compendium is a collection of monographs on
critical technology leadership topics. Previous
year's Compendia have included monographs on
essential skills of the K-12 CTO, total cost of
ownership, cyber security, virtual learning,
literacy programs, assistive technology,
data-driven decision making, wireless
technology, accountability and assessment, and
copyright among other topics.
- Participation in CoSN's six annual Webcasts.
- Access to essential ed tech resources
through myCoSN.
- Opportunities to volunteer with CoSN,
shaping our policy and direction.
At the 2009 CoSN conference I attended
workshops in Green Computing, Leading Technology
in Times of Economic Crisis, and many other
sessions - all extremely
valuable. |
| What is
METAA? |
METAA is the professional organization for
K-12 leaders of educational technology in
Massachusetts.
Our mission is to unite Massachusetts K-12
educational technology administrators into one
professional association for the purpose of
advocating for and supporting the vision,
policies, practices, and funding for historical,
current, and cutting edge technology within all
aspects of teaching, learning, and professional
productivity.

| Funding
Membership |
Both CoSN and METAA provide professional
development. If your district technology or
professional development budgets are not able to
fund this membership we urge you to investigate
using state grant money for this - discuss with
your district grant liaison, the possibility of
using either Title IID (Enhancing Education
Through Technology) or Title IIA (Improving
Educator Quality) or stimulus money.
